Workforce and Economy
Latinos will play a larger role in the economy of the United States. The Latino population represents the largest and youngest ethnic group and represents 17% of the nation’s total population. According to projections Latinos will constitute 31% of the nation’s population by 2060. Preparing Latinos for new, more complex and better jobs is the challenge for the Latino community and our nation.
The skills required by our nation’s workforce grow in complexity; America is losing its position of global educational leadership in ways that could put our future living standards and business competitiveness at risk. Latinos high usage of technology, social media and e-commerce means they are positioning themselves to transform their economic interests as consumers, build wealth, take advantage of employment opportunities and contribute to the economy.
NLCI utilizes social media to connect with the young Latino population in the United States and assure that the nation’s leaders place the education and employment interests of Latinos at the top of the nation’s agenda.
