US Senate Unanimously Passes Human Trafficking Bill to help Child Victims.
Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act passed the senate unanimously on 4/22/15. Written by Cornyn (R-Texas) the bill increases resources to law enforcement and victim support agencies by creating a new fund, Domestic Trafficking Victims’ Fund. The revenues for the fund are derived from penalties such as fees and/or transfer of assets against traffickers their patrons or transporters as well as money already allocated for community health centers. The bill is poised to address issues such as lack of beds, services and care for both adult and child victims among many other provisions.
